Advanced Security

HP OpenView Advanced Security, an add-on component for HP OpenView Operations (OVO), provides secure communication for managing business-critical and business-sensitive systems, databases, and applications over unsecured network infrastructures.

The HP OpenView Operations core product comes with standard protection against passive attacks (eavesdropping) by securing network traffic. With Advanced Security, the communication infrastructure is extended to support the authentication, encryption, and integrity of management data between the following:

• Management servers
• Management servers and distributed intelligent agents
• Management servers and the connected operator consoles

HP OpenView Advanced Security is only available for HP OpenView Operations 6 and 7.1 for UNIX. With the latest version 8.1 of HP OpenView Operations for UNIX, much of the functionality of HP OpenView Advanced Security is delivered through the HTTPS-based communication as part of the core product.
